I suppose in Antoinette's day eating the rich would be a great idea since they were such fat bastards. But in the modern era where the poor are the fat bastards and the rich spend umpteen hours a day on stairmasters, I don't think it's a very modest proposal.

Actually, you want to eat lean, well-excercised meat, so eating the rich now makes MORE SENSE THEN EVER! (AttribDammit: P.J. O'Rourke, though I haven't actually read the book in question.)

The meat of the poor is bad news,
  For with chemicals vile it's tainted.
    So cannibal chefs who can choose
      choose the rich, the athletic, the sainted.

      The poor's taste is never that great:
    At the best you can mask it with catsup.
  A cannibal chef who's au fait
knows that rich food's demand never lets up.
