I'm posting this on the advice of others...

Last week, I was working in 101 alone, and there was a bit of a backlog in problems (not too bad). Suddenly, a woman came barging into the room, and told me that she had a problem. A bit surprised, I said, "Well, I'm helping someone else right now. But if you can wait a moment..."

"I can't wait a moment! I have to be somewhere in five minutes!" she interrupted.

I'm not sure what I would have said at this stage of the game; this sort of egoism often finds me unprepared. I was spared the necessity of coming up with a response, however, because another woman, who was also in a hurry but was waiting patiently, just started laughing.

The first woman gave the laughing woman, me, and the rest of the room a look compounded of suspicion, confusion, and annoyance, and stalked out of the room vanquished.

The laughing woman said, to the room at large, "Of course, she's the most important person in the world."
