This actually happened a week or so ago. I was working cittrain from noon to 1:00. Nobody was working help. Nobody was working cit3. A huge line of users winds its way out the doors. The phone is ringing. The printer is out of paper. I turn to the next person in line and ask, "Can I help you?"
She displays a fold-up calculator type deal with a numeric keypad and explains that it has a modem/fax jack on it and she would like to read her Eudora mail on it. "Uh, I don't think you can. You need a special program to read e-mail", I explain. "Oh, but this runs programs", she explains, displaying some little rectangular diskettes about 2x3". Glancing at the line and the phone, I tell her to go upstairs to the CRC.
May they find it in their hearts to forgive me.
