Remembering Koala3K: A Cookbook

Yeah, Koala3K and me go back a ways. I remember when we were heading out North we were so poor that we'd go in to convenience stores and shoplift cans of Spam. Yeah, Koala3K always used to insist that we take that new low-fat variety, because he was watching his figure. He useta model for Pierre Cardin, you know - those ebony faceless mannequins with hooks for hands are the spitting image of him, but he never got a dime for it.

There was one time in Tuskaloosa where we crashed in this old abandoned barn -- or at least we THUNK it was abandoned. But then early in the morning what do we hear but the armies of the living dead moving slowly towards that selfsame barn! Man, I was about fit to be tied! But Koala3K didn't bat an eye, just pulled out his old theremin and started playing. Pacified those old zombies up real good! He kept 'em occupied until I could get the machete and bags of salt out of the truck. A good man to have at your back, you betcha.

The last time I saw Koala3K? I think it was in Tibet. You know, I had moved there to meditate, and damned if I hadn't achieved enlightenment that very morning, but here comes Koala3K up the path, bringing with him his packages of cherry pez, a couple of fifths of Scotch, and some unfiltered Marlboros, and he starts asking me about the Way. I tried my best to learn him, but after I smacked him upside the head a few times he said that he didn't think that my Way was his Way and he was gonna go check out some crazy-ass church in Denver. I sent a couple of trained assassins after him, but that was doomed to failure from the start, you know. Never sent me a postcard, but that was just his way.

Miss him? Hell, yeah, I miss him. Guy could fart the Russian national anthem. Someone like that, you gotta hold onto if you can.
