i remember marching with Dawn to the base of the Montmorency Falls and looking up at the wall of green, stalactite ice with yellow and red, roped and bearded people spreadeagle over it, and later, thru an astigmatic haze, listening to Doctor Dave talk abt being old, that evening while we sat looking out over the lit up spume from the falls, and then the next day with the bunch of you forming a small grouping inside the larger movements of the milling crowd out on the Plains of Abraham, which Kate described as being like a scene from Brueghel (those period Bombardier snowmachines seemed to add to this somehow), and later Waider giving me a toast, him with the requisite pint of Guinness, me holding up a cup of tea, which in its own way was extremely memorable and left a permanent impression; these and a whole bunch of other things got me to think abt, of all things, the Grateful Dead.
i'll just send the whole thing instead of selecting a stanza. It's not Irish or subtle, but does have something abt it.
May God bless and keep you always, may your wishes all come true.
May you always do for others and let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars and climb on every rung,
May you stay forever young.
Forever young, may you stay forever young.
May you grow up to be righteous, may you grow up to be true.
May you always know the truth and see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous, stand upright and be strong.
May you stay forever young.
Forever young, may you stay forever young.
May your hands always be busy, may your feet always be swift.
May you have a strong foundation when the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful, may your songs always be sung.
May you stay forever young.
Forever young, may you stay forever young.
